Citrus is the primary fruit crop in Egypt, occupying the largest cultivated area among all fruit crops. It also holds the top position as Egypt’s leading export fruit.
One of the key advantages of citrus is its diverse range of varieties, classified into major groups. The most prominent among them is the orange group, which dominates the cultivated citrus area in Egypt. This is followed by the mandarin group, which includes easy peelers and hybrid varieties, and then other citrus types.
